Solo Dance Contest 2017 within the Gdansk Dance Festival will take place on 5th -9th of June 2017. For the first time the Contest is opened to dancers from all over the World. Chosen artists will show their solos before audience and the Jury will appoint finalists to perform on the last day. The prizes are 6000 euros.
For the Jury of international Solo Dance Contest 2017 club Żak invited well known dancers, choreographers, artistic directors and researchers, highly engaged in the development of contemporary dance. In the Jury of the Solo Dance Contest 2015, will seat: Franz Anton Cramer (Germany) lecturer and researcher with publications on dance performance, who founded and directed the BA course “Contemporary Dance, Context, Choreography”; Ayrin Ersoz (Turkey) dancer and choreographer, director of the Dance Department at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul and PhD degree holder from the Theater Criticism and Dramaturgy Department; Izabela Sokołowska-Boulton (Poland) former soloist of Dutch National Ballet, holder of many scholarships and awards, amongst others gold medal in Varna International Ballet Competition, currently deputy director of Baltic Opera Ballet; Charliey Morrissey (Great Britain) pedagogue and choreographer creating for theatres and galleries, collaborator of Siobhan Davies Dance and NSCD in Leeds; Anna Piotrowska (Poland) artistic director of ROZBARK Theatre, with more than 90 choreographies, originator and coordinator of numerous national and international projects on culture education.
