    VII Gdański Festiwal Tańca

    5.06.2015 - 14.06.2015

7th Gdańsk Dance Festival, refers to the tradition of festivals, and events from the last 20 years that have promoted Gdańsk dance community, such as the Baltic University of Dance, Dance Explosions and Gdańsk Dance Corporation, which was established thanks to initiative of Leszek Bzdyl, Club Żak, and Gdańsk corporation of dancers.  This original environment is still active, gaining new spaces and means for the production of performances, earning scholarships, residences and fame throughout the world. It has also become a new home for the young dancers.  Those new recruits of Gdańsk dance scene, were promoted in a special way during the 7th Gdańsk Dance Festival.

In the past, the curators of the festival were dancers, among others, Anna Haracz, Anna Steller, Joanna Czajkowska, Leszek Bzdyl, and for many years Katarzyna Pastuszak. The curators of 2015 edition of the Festival were two dancers, Joanna Czajkowska and Maria Miotk, who invited theatres from France, Croatia, and Poland. Moreover, Wojtek Mochniej, one of the first animateurs of contemporary dance in Gdańsk, took care of premieres from Gdańsk. He also led workshops for dancers, circling a wheel of history of dance in Gdańsk.

4 symbolizes dynamics, change and taking risks in the dance. The sequential movements of the dancers are precisely calculated by them, and the introduction of a new element often falls into four. It is also the slogan of the 7th edition of the Gdańsk Dance Festival, during which artists from four corners of the world presented various, often very distant concepts of communicating using body language. Almost every performance will be a turn in a different direction, just like after deduction to four.

    V Gdański Festiwal Tańca

    31.05-9.06.2013

The 5th Gdańsk Dance Festival took place under the slogan "+/-" and abounded in inspiring dialogues that contrasted with each other. We have presented the most interesting dance performances from opposite aesthetic and formal poles. Starting with a romance of dance and acrobatics, then political satire of Mozambique and Salzburg, and we have immersed themselves in thought over the meaning of life, finally breathe a sigh of relief and joyfully get carried away by Sławek Bendrata's perverse spectacle
