Artists (coaches, jury, choreographers)

Dario Tortorelli is a choreographer an visual artist based in Rotterdam developing projects under the name of ‘DIVEinD | Dario Tortorelli’.

Dario studied dance in Florence and holds a degree in Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance from the ‘Centre de Dance Rosella Hightower in Cannes’ (France). He danced for several companies like Jeune Ballet International Rosella Hightower, Ballet de L’Opera de Nice, Introdans, and Conny Janssen Danst. As freelance dancer, he performed in numerous projects mainly for the Belgian choreographer Ann Van den Broek. He is also active as dance teacher, among others for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Cullberg Ballet (Stockholm) and others.

Terms and regulations

§1

Basic information

 

  1. The contest is organised by Club ZAK - a local government cultural institution based in Gdańsk, Grunwaldzka street 195/197, 80-226 Gdańsk, holding NIP 5830004739, REGON 190510481, entered into the Register of Cultural Institutions run by the City of Gdańsk under number 5/98.

 

  1. Basic schedule of the contest:
    1. announcement of the contest: 15.11.2019;
    2. application deadline: 31.1.2020, h. 16.00;
    3. contest resolution: 15.2.2020;
    4. residency date: with 22.05.- 5.062020; those dates may change within a given month;
    5. premiere presentations will be held within the Gdansk Dance Festival: 5th June 2020.

 

§ 2

Participation in the contest

 

  1. The applications can be send by people who are:
  1. born after 31.12.1974
  2. dancers of contemporary dance/contemporary ballet companies/theatres
  3. retired dancers of contemporary dance/contemporary ballet companies/theatres

 

§ 3

The application

 

  1. The application should be sent, in Polish or English, with the required attachments on the following mail address: gft2@klubzak.com.pl, titled “residency/premiere 45+ ..... ...... (name and surname)” until 31.1.2020, h.16.00;

 

  1. Obligatory attachments to the application:
  1. legible scan of statements (Attachment 1) signed handwritten by the applying dancer;
  2. legible scans of ID/passport/other documents with photo stating the date of birth of the applying dancer
  3. short artistic CV in do file

 
  1. All applications submitted after the deadline, not fulfilling the requirements in § 2 and §3, 1, 2, with formal deficiencies (where formal deficiency is: lack of required attachments or no signature) will not be considered.

 
  1. Questions in Polish or English regarding the terms of participation should be addressed to: gft2@klubzak.com.pl. Answers about individual cases will be sent by e-mail; explanations of general issues, comments to the regulations will be posted at www.facebook.com/GdanskiFestiwalTanca.

 
  1. Contest resolution:
    1. Dancers invited for the project will be chosen by mentor and a committee appointed by the Director of Club ZAK;
    2. The results of the contest, after approval by Director of Club ZAK, will be announced on gdanskifestiwaltanca.pl and facebook.com/gdanskifestiwaltanca. Published results of the competition will only contain information about the chosen dancers.

 

§ 4

Realisation of the project

 

  1. The project includes funds intended for the production  PLN 5,000 gross; and for the fee of dancers selected for the project – 340 Euro gross per person. The dancers' fee will be paid in accordance with the provisions of the contract after the project is completed.
  2. The residence will consist of work on movement, dramaturgy, stage spacing and direction of the performance, as well as 2 days of general rehearsals.

 

  1. Organizer's obligations:
  1. The Organizer will reimburse the travel expenses (1 arrival and 1 departure) on the basis of bus or 2nd class train original tickets in Poland or up to 150 Euros of travel expenses from abroad, on basis of tickets;
  2. The Organizer will guarantee accommodation during the period of residency referred to in §1, for finalists originating outside the Tri-City in hostel rooms;
  3. The Organizer will guarantee alimentation (dinners of max. 19 PLN value each in Club ZAK) during the period of residency referred to in §1.
  4. The Organizer will not reimburse the cost of transporting stage set.
  5. The Organizer will not reimburse the cost of local transport.

 

  1. Chosen dancer’s obligations:
  1. dancers are required to prepare together with mentor: costumes, stage design, music, visualizations and other materials necessary to perform;
  2. Dancers allow photographic documentation of the performance during the general rehearsals by a photographer designated by the Organizer;
  3. Dancers who fail to appear on a residency day will be given reduced day amount of money per person (except for cases of force majeure and documented by sick note).

 
  1. Dancers and the mentor have the full copyrights of the performance and can release it freely after the premiere at Club ZAK.

 
  1. Further details of realisation of the projects will be established in the form of a written agreement between the dancers and the Club ZAK after announcing the results.

 

  1. Conditions for withdrawal from the realisation of project:
  1. if after the announcement of the results dancer withdraws his participation in the project, the Organizer in agreement with mentor, may invite the next applicant;
  2. if the project is not realised due to the fault of the dancer or the dancer does not appear for the residency referred to in §1, he will not be allowed to participate in Club ZAK’s contests and projects in the following year;
  3. if the project is not realised due to force majeure (an unforeseeable external event that could not be prevented by either Party) or other circumstances independent of the will of either Party (in particular a dancer’s illness documented by sick note) the Parties shall not be liable.

 

§ 5

Final statements

 
  1. Sending an application is tantamount to acceptance by the applicant of the terms of the Project and these regulations.

 
  1. Registration - application to participate in the Project is tantamount to consent to the processing of participant's personal data for purposes related to the organization and conduct of the project. Appropriate consent along with the implementation of the right to information is included in the application form and on the Organizer's website.

 
  1. The administrator of personal data is the Organizer, who undertakes to apply technical and organizational measures to data subjects participating in the Contest to ensure data protection in accordance with the standards contained in Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and the repeal of Directive 95/46 / EC (general data protection regulation, hereinafter "GDPR"), the law on the protection of personal data and other provisions of national law.

 
  1. The participant of the project has the right to access their data and the right to rectify, delete, limit processing, the right to data transfer, the right to raise objections, the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the legality of processing, which was carried out consent before withdrawal.

 
  1. Making the application constitutes consent to the processing of the participant's personal data for purposes related to the recruitment and the implementation of the Project.

 
  1. Personal data collected by the Organizer will be collected and processed only for the purposes of the Project.

 
  1. Each participant has the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory body (the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection), when he / she considers that the processing of his personal data violates the provisions of the general regulation on personal data protection of 27 April 2016.

 
  1. Providing personal data by the participant is voluntary, however, the lack of consent for their processing for the indicated purpose results in the inability to participate in the Project.

 
  1. The Organizer reserves the right to publish the name, surname, image and information about the participant and to place this information in the Organizer's information and advertising materials, including in the Organizer's publications and on its websites or information profiles.

 
  1. The Organizer is not responsible for the consequences of providing incorrect data in submitted applications.

 
  1. In all matters not regulated in these regulations, decisions shall be made by the Director of Organizer.

 
  1. The Organizer reserves the right to change the rules during the Call for the Project and commits to immediately publish the changed regulations at the same places where he previously published the rules of the Project.

 
  1. The Organizer reserves the right to change the rules of the Project, end or discontinue the Project at any time without giving any reason.
